Dr. Hunter Stockton Thompson
July 18, 1937 – February 20, 2005
Six years ago today, one of the greatest and last truly outlaw writers allegedly took his own life in his home. I could write an entire blog this man, along with the influence his writing had on the crazier slant of the American intellectual community or pop culture, but that may be a future project....who knows.
For those who only know him from the two films based on his books "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" with Johnny Depp and "Where the Buffalo Roam" with Sir William Murray, I can't recommend you read "Fear and Loathing on the Campaign Trail '72" and "The Great Shark Hunt" to get a proper grasp of this incredible American author's depth and professionalism.
Though a release date has not been announced, Johnny Depp will be reprising his role as Thompson (under Thompson's pseudonym, Paul Kemp) in the upcoming film "The Rum Diary" and I personally can't wait to see him take on that role again.
We still miss you, you crazy fucker!

I absolutely love this guy. I remember reading about him wanting to frame the government for his suicide, how awesome.
I still can't belive that's acutally Johnny Depp. He looks soo ugly.
If you compare Jack Sparrow with Raoul Duke you'd never guess it's the same man. He's a true shapeshifter.
