Ever since the first European explorers began truly penetrating the heart of central Africa, there has been a legend that has stood the test of time and still remains one of the most baffling cryptozoological mysteries of all time. This is the legend of Mokèlé-mbèmbé, or the Congo Brontosaurus. The first recorded incident from a modern European perspective was in 1776 when French missionary Abbé Lievain Bonaventure stumbled on tracks that were reportedly over 3 feet in circumference with three large toes. Bear in mind, the term "dinosaur" did not even exist yet in this period of history.
In this Vice Guide to Travel, correspondent Dave Choe and his crew travel to the Congo in hopes of finding this elusive creature. He is certainly no Bear Grylls, and their trek into the deep African rain forest with their pygmy guides is probably one of the most entertaining and subtly hilarious things you will ever bear witness to this week....
Enjoy and I look forward to posting another next week!

How fun! Josh Gate and "Destination Truth' did that one too---in search of Mokembe (sp?) and if I recall, it was a rather lame-o episode with maybe a boat that didn't work well or something stupid. I wish he'd revisit it. As a kid, this legend was my favorite cryptid even before I had heard for Bigfoot.
those books on mysterious animals were always my favorite
Vice documentaries are always interesting. Always a little bit out there on the fringe looking at the world a different way then you might see on TV. I hadn't seen this one before though, and it's to bad he didn't get to see the bronto.
I think I'm going to like this series. I did feel the video was a bit short though. Nevertheless, I can't wait for next week.
i'd like to see this dinosaur too
looking forward to the next one
very interesting story and video!

*Mental note* - come back to this later.
I may have seen it already, but Vice travel guides are worth a re-watch.
Are you going to do 'Asses of the Caribbean'? ; ]

I enjoy these videos of people trying to find elusive creatures. I love cryptids!
Great video, thank you for the article
that video was really good! they managed to make it so neat and tidy in only 9minutes and kept it interesting
This gives me pause to reminisce about the time I saw the dinosaur in my back yard. Not sure it had anything to do with the mushrooms or not!
I've never heard of this legend before. Very interesting.
Wasn't there a kid's movie made about this long ago? I seem to remember something.
this is an awesome post!
