Tuesday Travel With Vice Magazine: Hamilton's Pharmacopeia

Well after last week's documentary on Liberia, I wanted to go a bit more lighthearted this time around. I know many of you won't agree with the themes and subject matters presented in this next piece, but just bear in mind that it takes all kinds to make a world. My personal take (and I do not suggest anyone agree with me) is that hallucinogenic plants when taken in the proper setting, under caring and experienced supervision, and with a specific goal in mind, can be a profoundly useful tool for self discovery and non-linear thinking. When done in a party atmosphere or habitually, they lose all usefulness in the previous respect and become simply another drug that as a responsible member of society you should take steps to always avoid. That said, this week I bring you...

The Icelandic Skin-Disease Mushroom Fashion Fiasco
Hamiltion Morris has his own column in Vice Magazine devoted to rare and often times unheard of psychoactive plants and substances. This is pretty much his only job there, and he has his own series of videos that you can check out to prove it. But for SOME reason, the Icelandic govt. called him specifically to cover their national fashion week in 2010. What ensues is a week mixed with awkward participation in a world he knows nothing about along with an exploration of Iceland's native hallucinogenic mushrooms. The trip (no pun intended) culminates in a psychedelic journey with some British fashion designers in a crowded hot springs. Enjoy!

See you Next Tuesday with More!

So, I can't necessarily agree with these at all, however, I can totally see your point of view, and I truly feel that what people do in the comfort of their own home that does not harm others is their own doing...and law enforcement and the government shouldn't interfere...so this makes for an interesting post :-) Pretty cool :-) Happy Tuesday! (Let's hope I can actually manage to get some work done today LOL!)

What are you promoting on your blog!? For shame! Drugs are bad and stuff.

I've never been a fan of illicit substances (*alcohol isn't illicit, it is legal! LOL) - mostly because I am crazy enough all on my own - I'd end up on some bad trip! To each his own though. I think watching people baked out of their head is hilarious.

As a long overdue visitor to your blog, I am happy to report that THIS POST was a wonderful first impression. Way to catch me off guard!

And I'm with you. Used as an enhancer, and not just another way to get high, I'm not against the use of substances like this.

"I used to get high on life, but pretty soon I built up a tolerance. I used to seize the day, then I started seizing two days, three days, then I was a seizing a week, just to get the same buzz." - Arj Barker

I know a lot of people that would love to have a career, where the only job requirement is to get high.

for a journalist that has a column in a popular magazine, I was expecting a more serious approach to this matter or in general. If the documentary went for longer it could change my mind
