Post Father's Day Monday Post

Another Father's Day has come and gone, and I sincerely hope that this one will be the last one to feel so bittersweet. I am minus one child who I have not seen in way, way too long. He and I stay in contact the best we can, and have for these almost 5 years. But it's just not the same. That and I didn't actually know my biological father my entire life, so consequently I've never really celebrated it anyway. But my stepson, my youngest boy, and my twin lovebuggs were with me, and that sure means a lot. My Father's Day gift was to be able to sleep and actually get more than a four-hour stretch this time around. In general my work schedule starts at 6:30 AM and doesn't usually and until midnight, after which I need at least an hour to "decompress" before I try to get some sleep and start the process over.

But yesterday I did something amazing. I closed my eyes stopped moving for about 10 hours. It was absolutely luxurious, and I had even spoiled myself a little bit the night before by playing a bit of new Vegas before I passed out. I woke up to my two boys thrusting beautifully homemade cards with chocolate bars taped to them in my half asleep face. Believe me when I say that it was alot more adorable than it sounds...

But as I said before, I never knew my real father. But I still managed to learn honor, integrity, and a good value system from other male role models in my life. In fact, I even made a collage of them that I was going to post on my Facebook profile but decided against it.

Happy Father's Day Guys!! (Click for more detail)

Yeah, so these are my "Dads". some real, some fictitious, but all had a hand in making who I am today. I didn't turn out so bad...

But on a less tragic note, Happy Birthday to Gillian of A Daft Scots Lass, one of the absolute favorite blogs that I currently follow. Stop in and wish her a happy birthday and let her know Aaron sent ya! And this week will bring another addition of "Drunken History" by VBS.tv, a new "Bastard Wildlife", my successes and failures at "Making Something From Nothing", and a new installment of my backstory. I'm looking forward to a great week, and hoping you all are as well!

My Fathers Day was spent getting my 4 year old daughter's birthday party ready, so Fathers Day was a little forgotten throughout the day, but it was nice to share the day with her all the family, friends and especially her little friends, who all made a hell of a mess, cake trodden in the carpet, chocolate finger prints all over the walls, spilt drinks and dirt tipped out of the flowerpots!! Hey but what are Dads for!!
Is that Denver Pyle I spy!!

Some damn good role models there.

it's sad that you never knew your father, but at least your own kids won't have to endure what you've gone through.

happy father's day!

Happy belated Father's Day! You seem to have fared pretty well to not have a "biological father" to be in the picture - your paternal instincts appear to be fully intact, and your kids are pretty lucky!

I am glad you had a nice Father's Day! And wow, do I ever know what you mean about the whole father thing...despite my biological father's physical presence, he was NOT a father. Far from it. I don't even think he knows the meaning of the word. And now he misses out on his pretty incredible grandchildren. Some people are completely clueless.

Well, no matter how you view it or whether you celebrate it...HAPPY FATHER'S DAY (a day late because I'm good like that).

I was fortunate enough to have my father in my life and he still is, but I don't define the word "FATHER" by merely the person who created me. Father is such a bigger and broader term. I consider my grandfather a "father" to me as well. So, i completely understand how it is necessary to recognize all people who have influenced you on this day. :-)

Hope you had a great weekend and enjoyed the 10 hours of NOTHING! :)

Happy Father's Day! You deserve that extra rest. New Vegas huh? Ah not as good as Fo3.. but you can argue Fo3 isn't as good as Fo1 but... I haven't played any of DLCs (nor do I plan to), but just a heads up... the Legion gives you the most guilt-free ending. Ironic right?

What??? Bruce Lee is a role model/father-figure for you??? And that steamer Patrick Stewart?? WHATT???? Is that... IS THAT NIKOLA TESLA?! WHAT THE HELL???? I think there's a side to these men I've never seen before....

It would seem surreal to me to not my dad, we get along pretty great. Anyways, it sounds like your kids really appreciate you, so you must be doing something right.
