Well I made it through that bitter week with my sanity
intact and my tear ducts completely exercised for the year. And that's all I
really want to write about that...
I am righteously pissed off about what happened the
beautiful country of Norway this weekend. Being of Norwegian descent myself, I
feel especially punched in the gut knowing that the perpetrator was Norwegian
himself. Angry young man can do stupid things when they get enough of ideological
hot air pumps between their ears by people who talk out of their asses for a
living. As more information from Oslo comes in, it becomes more and more
apparent that he did this out of some need to satisfy his far right wing
conservative Christian view of the world.
But what he didn't know (and all dipshit extremist sociopaths
seem to miss out on this one) was that whatever position he may have had on
things, nobody cares. He shot innocent children who were spending a day in camp
on one of the most beautiful islands in Scandinavia. His sociological and
political views could solve every single problem humanity has, but now because
he's a murdering lowlife cockroach, humanity could give two shits what his
views are. Societal change has never, is never, and will never be enacted
because some dickhead decides to get violent one day. Nobody looks at the
rubble and the mangled bodies and says to themselves "WOW….well, you know
this here bomber has a pretty good point, we ARE a bit too liberal in our ways…”.
Because that would just be stupid…
Oh wait….
One of the most debated and repeated quotes since the 9/11
Attacks™ has been one from Benjamin Franklin who said:
"Those who would exchange their liberty for security, deserve neither, and will lose both”.
And
I really hope that the Norwegian people take this quote to heart in the
upcoming weeks and months. We Americans didn't heed Franklin's warning, and now
the noose of the police state is slipping ever tighter around the neck of the
average American citizen. Norway has been one of the most peaceful and truly
free nations since the end of World War II. In fact, nowhere in Norway has seen
violence like this since World War II. I really hope they don't throw it away
because some religious freak decided to butcher a bunch of innocents in order
to get some harebrained political message across.
And speaking of harebrained political messages… I have been
thinking about restarting my other political blog more and more lately. More
for an outlet to be able to vent on some of the stupidity (like this Norwegian
tragedy) than anything else. My only concern is offending those who might not
share my particular leanings and views as some of them could be viewed as
extreme as well. But I don't think violence is the answer to any problem,
especially when humor and sarcasm works so much better in the big picture
anyway. For those of never seen it, it has been mothballed since 2009 when I
came to the conclusion that neither Democrat nor Republican in the American
political system represent the needs of its people. It's a shell game, a puppet
show, WWE Smackdown performed by people in suits. And I think the new material
for the blog would represent this. If you're interested in reading some of my
ravings they can be viewed here. And if you think the blog is worth saving or
needs to be deleted for the greater good, go ahead and place your vote at the
poll I just posted today!
Looking forward to a great week!

I was seriously shocked to hear about what happened in Norway.
My mind was blown. I could not believe what I was seeing.
Sadly, he will be a hero to some.
Why can't people just be nice to one another?? :(
Don't worry about causing offense.
Have your say, you may even have a couple of people rethink their political stance, which could be a great thing.
i agree with you on most all levels. true, i have very conservative economic beliefs, but socially, im a bit more liberal. no matter what one believes politically..taking acts to this extreme is NEVER okay. it disgusts me and innocent people lost lives because of it.
i really hope norway can overcome this as the strong nation they are. i enjoy living here not because it's pretty or because it's different, but mostly because it's safe and the people are genuine and kind. i hope things like this crap don't impede on the greatness norway has built as a nation. :)
People are always selfish.
My dad came to America from Norway. I find it comforting to know just how shocking it is for the world to hear this. Norway is not a violent place and the people are very logic-minded (liberal) and well educated without the messiness of extreme religious zealots, so it says a lot for the country that it shocked us all. If it happened in America no one would have any trouble believing it. Says a lot, huh? I feel for the families and the the lives that could have contributed to a great country and are no longer. It certainly shed a light on an extremism that it takes only one person to have in order to hurt so many. Letting them grow and run rampant is horrifying. I wish America could make it more uncomfortable for such yahoos to exist, but we are puritans at heart, I fear.
There's a special hell reserved for people like that...
Ugh. So sick of extremists who will go to any lengths to get "heard." Seriously, when did it become an option to harm others in the pursuit of making YOUR opinion the prevailing one...oh wait...for as long as people have been around (e.g., The Crusades, The Nazis, The Khmer Rouge...). Nauseating and sad.
And I wouldn't worry about expressing your opinions (left, right or indifferent) on your other blog - anyone with half a brain can have a different belief system/point of view but still hear what you have to say. SAY IT, mannnnnn!
what's worse, i've seen some news sites giving a detailed profile of the perpetrator, so instead of burying his ideology, they're helping to spread it. :(
I hope the families of those who died are doing well, I feel so angry that one man would go so far. Violence is never the right answer, but is always used in place of thought.
Yeah that was sick! Can't believe it!
The Norway thing is horrible. The guy totally lost it. But the irony is that as filled with the right wing rhetoric he was, they were the first to cast him aside. There is no apology from the groups that incite such hateful views. The people who talk from their asses will just go to work again tomorrow and spew the same nonsense, telling people to get angry and to go for their guns. Dumb.
As for the blog, I think you would probably have pretty level headed and good political views, but I often find political blogs to be tedious and overbearing. And with the first sign of trouble, the media vultures will come and pull it apart against you. Best to let it lie.
It bothers me that he is being referred to as "Christian". He's no Christian. He's a nutjob....and it makes those of us who like to think we're Christians, look really bad when he's referred to as one. :(
BTW...I also made you blog of the day.
Another great post.
Also, your Google+ invite has been sent.
I really hope that Wino, I mean Winehouse, doesn't over-shadow the reports here in Australia. It's disgusting what that pathetic person did.
