Saturday Music Club: A-Ha

This is the second in a weekly installment of some of the music that I can't get enough of. I have been here since 2006, and I don't have American MTV or radio to go by anymore as far as new musical trends. I have yet to hear a single Lady Gaga, Jonas Brothers, Taylor Swift, or other modern day pop song. This is mostly intentional however because I've been able to let my personal musical preferences evolve with taste instead of trend. So every Saturday, I will be sharing with you some of the incredible music I've found myself drifting to without society and pop culture directing the current. I hope you like it!

A-ha
These guys are a New Wave / Synth Pop band from Oslo, Norway who have been around since the early 80s but really haven't really received that much radio play outside of Europe. But they have been cranking out albums and hits on the European charts from the 80s up until the time they broke up just last year. It's a real shame too, because this was an incredibly talented band with some of the most melodic, haunting, and beautiful songs to come from a "Pop" band. They really only had one breakout hit in the United States in 1985 with a single "Take on Me" which was made popular on MTV with its unique animated music video. Those of you who watch the show family Guy, will remember this video being spoofed one time for hilarious effect. unfortunately for the band, this would really be there only breakout hit in the US because this was really the only "peppy" song in their repertoire, and this was the 80s which emphasized more on the sugary sweet, upbeat, and well... "peppy" music of the time. I chose this band this week because the two songs that I would like to post really reflect the feeling of that moment of loss I experienced in the previous post. So let's get really cheesy and dedicate these next two songs to the memory of "Megan".....

Yeah I remember that song Take on Me. I gave the other two a listen, and they were pretty decent, but not really my style.
